Well, Peter*, it looks like the storm is going to get worse, if you can believe that. Early this afternoon 12 Web design students were blindsided by a torrential downpour from Hurricane Lauré. I heard reports of 14 other students being swept away by the raging storm around mid-morning. Not only has the hurricane shaken the lives of those students, but it is also holding them captive throughout tonight. The storm is forecast to continue until around 2 p.m. tomorrow.
Sounds like the Mac lab is completely underwater. Have you heard yet when the eye of the hurricane expected to arrive?
Actually, this particular hurricane is different than those we usually see. The first eye of this hurricane arrived as soon as Intro to Web Design class got out and lasted until 5 p.m. Between 5 and 10 p.m. the storm again raged, but with less fury. At 10 p.m. another eye reached room 102 and is expected to last until 11 a.m. tomorrow. Then the last part of the storm will run its course until 2 p.m. when it's supposed to subside.
How strange! Two eyes in one hurricane? Hurricane Lauré must be a force to be reckoned with. Alison, have rescue teams been sent after the students yet?
Peter, the rescue efforts of two TA's have been suspended until about the middle of tomorrow afternoon. Once all the student's exams are completed and placed in the Web Design drop box, the rescuers will once again be allowed to try to assist the students. But until then, it looks like they will have to fend for themselves.
Wow, that's unfortunate for those students. Thank-you for the update, Alison. We'll stay in contact with you and keep our viewers up-to-date on the storm's progress as it moves its way through the SJ&C. Don't let all that rain wash you away, you hear?
Thanks, Peter, I'll do my best. I'm bracing myself for the final onslaught, but I won't let it wear me down.
