For Japan With Love

Some of the blogs I keep tabs on started the idea of For Japan With Love, a Bloggers Day of Silence.
There are two parts to it.

Fundraising:
For Japan With Love has a direct link on the website to the fundraising page for ShelterBox.
ShelterBox was one of THE first organizations asked by Japan to help and were on hand on the Saturday after the quake.  Each large, green ShelterBox is tailored to a disaster but typically contains a disaster relief tent for an extended family, blankets, water storage and purification equipment, cooking utensils, a stove, a basic tool kit, a children’s activity pack and other vital items.
Please check it out and whatever you can contribute will be so appreciated.

Bloggers Day of Silence:
Anyone that has a blog can help out with this one.
The aim is just raise awareness and respect and acknowledge the devastation going on in Japan.
The guidelines are simple.
1.  This coming Friday, March 18th, no posts at all on your blog.
2.  Please post a blog post about what you will be doing this Friday whenever possible in hopes to spread the word and whoever else would like to join in.
3. Encourage your readers to contribute to donate shelter to Japan.
Whatever anyone can contribute will be appreciated.
Every little bit helps.

I don't really have the means to donate money for Japan right now, but I can participate in the Bloggers Day of Silence. I won't be posting tomorrow. Consider doing the same.

Blogging assignment

When Mr. L informed us, in our first Creative Writing class of the semester, that one of our assignments for the class was to write a blog post of at least three sentences every single day from September 1 to December 11, I must admit that I doubted I would be able to successfully complete that assignment. Turns out our teacher knew what he was doing. This will be my 104th blog post on Creative Endeavour and during this semester I've written a blog post for every single day. I've had a really fun time, learned to be more expressive and creative, and even neglected my former blog for this one. But, in spite of all that, what surprises me the most is that I'm planning to keep going with this blog. I might not blog every single day but I'd really like to aim for that. If I manage to write a blog post at least 4 or 5 times a week I think that will be pretty good. The most important thing I've learned from this assignment is to record what I think, what I feel and the things I do. It's been fun to go back through my blog and read various posts. Sometimes I was even surprised to find that I'd forgotten about doing certain activities until I re-read my blog posts. And they were just from this semester, a rather short period of time. If I have forgotten things I've done in the past three and a half months how many things throughout my life have I forgotten about just because I didn't write them down? I'm making a pledge to keep up this blog for the rest of this school year so that I'll have a written record of my life during my last year of college. It will be fun to go back and read it again some day. And to you, my wonderful classmates, I encourage you to do the same because I'll miss reading your blogs if you do stop. You're all such great writers and have inspired me muchly. Thanks for being in Creative Writing Fall semester 2010 with me. And thanks, Mr. L, for giving us this assignment!
