Geese & kids books

This morning: My sister and I were driving down Hickman Drive and just about to turn onto the traffic circle (the old one in front of Brock Hall) when a Canada Goose walked into the street right in front of us. My sister, Bryn, stopped to let it cross, but, just as it got past the car, another goose stepped down on the road. That must have been the signal because all the rest of the geese on that side of the road ambled over and slowly began to make the journey to the other side. Bryn and I couldn't stop laughing at the comical line of geese plodding army-style (left, right, left) in front of the car. By this time there were several other cars stopped behind us. Suddenly the driver from two cars back dashed out of his car and leapt, arms waving, into the middle of the marching line. In a flash the remaining birds flew to join their companions and road was clear for us to drive on through.

This afternoon: I went to my first Survey of Children's Lit. class period. I am going to LOVE that class. Except for the obvious education emphasis, it's my dream class. Imagine, one of the main assignments is to read 100 children's books! It's going to be so much fun. Of course, I'm the only communication major in the entire class of 32. And I was also informed that I'm the only senior, but that should just make it all the more interesting. During class we read Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!

Maybe my goose road-crossing experience will come in useful if I ever attempt to write a children's book...

Titles

I finally got around to starting my new blog tonight. Ever since last Thursday morning in my Creative Writing class when I got the assignment to begin a daily blog, I've been contemplating blog names. I have a hard time coming up with the perfect title or name for things (such as this blog or the stories and essays I write.) And, unless I absolutely love a certain book or movie or song, I also sometimes have trouble remembering their titles. Not the content, just the title. So finally I decided to stop pondering names and just pick one and be happy with it.

And now I have, and now I am.
