Deer skeleton

Today was strange. I went to my last lecture of Principles of Entrepreneurship. After this we just do/listen to the group presentations and then have a final, so once Tuesday's class is over, I'll pretty much be done that class. Right when I got out of class I got a call from Emily (the Accent photo editor) who told me as discreetly as possible that a girl in her class had told the class that an SM from "India or a country like that" had died and that it was probably a murder. Emily told me everything she had heard and I asked if she had told Emily (the Accent editor) yet. She hadn't, so on my way to my next class I texted her the information I knew. (This is her response to my text. Of course when I read that I felt terrible for shaking her up, but I felt like our editor should probably know the information.) Throughout the day I kept hearing more and more information and it kept getting worse and worse. I was gearing myself up to either write or help write the story for the next Accent, which comes out two weeks from today. Then I found out that Emily the editor worked on the story all afternoon. So if she needs any help, I'm willing to do anything she wants, but it sounds like she has a good start.

That was the sad issue of the day. Here is the weird event of the day. We got out of orchestra early tonight and then Bryn, Jonathan, Ty, his friend, Kim, and I piled into Bryn's car and headed out to Chester Frost Park to hang out with my parents for supper. Hot dogs and marshmallows were awesome, just like on Monday. Then we had to head back to campus for Ty to work at 8:30. We got him there just a few minutes late and dropped Kim off, too. Then Bryn wanted a smoothie from Hulsey, so we went there and waited in line just to have the Kayak worker tell the girl in line right in front of us that it was 8:45 and they couldn't sell any more smoothies. It was disappointing, but we managed to keep our heads up and carry on. As we drove out of Taylor Circle East, I spotted a strange bloodied-bony mass on the side of the road. I yelled at Bryn to stop and then jumped out of the car to investigate. It was a deer skeleton almost stripped to the bone of any meat or organs. There was just a brain (at least I think that's what it was) and some red muscles stuck to the ivory bones. It was rather creepy to look at and I stayed back, worried that the skeleton would smell. Jonathan called it in to Campus Safety, while Bryn walked all around the deer documenting everything with pictures on her cell phone. Soon the black and green stylized Campus Safety car arrived and we left the skeleton for them to figure out. It was really a very strange thing to see on our campus.

  1. Both of those are pretty awful and sad. I hope you're all right...
