MLKJ Day
We don't have this holiday in Canada. I think it's kind of a weird holiday, although not as weird as President's Day. (Really, what in the world do you guys have that holiday for?? Seems kind of like eking out an extra holiday to me.) In any case, a strange holiday or not, I'll never say no to a day off school. This year I was wanting to go on Community Service Day and do something to help the community. I went last year and had a fun time with some friends. But on Sunday I realized what a monumental amount of work I had to get done before work on Tuesday night and decided to utilize as much of Monday as I could. Besides, I figured that writing an accurate story for this week's Accent was kind of like a community service to my fellow students, so I didn't really feel too bad about missing this year. In the end, although Community Service Day would have been a good diversion, I'm really glad I made the choice to get some things done that were weighing on my mind. Having a clear and organized mind is key to me being able to write well and I have a lot of writing to do in the next few days - and weeks and months - ahead.

Well, you celebrate the queen's birthday, and we can't. Also, MLKJ Day is very important, for without it, we might forget the issues of racism and cruelty that we have had to face (and still are facing, in some ways. Okay, moving from soap box, I'm glad you felt accomplished. I did the same thing you did (and it still didn't help me write well...)
